Wood fired stoneware with natural ash glaze and clear shell markings. A very complex glaze which develops naturally as a result of fly ash building up and eventually melting on the surface of the pot. The piece was set on its side on seashells during the firing. After the firing the shells crumble away, but leave there distinct markings in the glaze.
