This piece was fired at the edge of the firebox in the woodkiln. The intense heat softened the clay enough to create indentions where the pot was resting on 3 large scallop shell. A heavy accumulation of melted wood ash has given the piece a complex glaze layer and compound bead of glass where the liquid ash glaze was dripping off of the pot during firing.
