Straight sided 14 oz. mug with stout handle. The mug is made from a white stoneware clay and glazed with a shino and natural ash glazes. The lighter side of the piece was facing the firebox and the shino on that side incorporated more wood ash resulting the "bleaching" of the glaze. The small patches of bare clay on the bottom of the piece indicate where the small fireclay/sawdust wads were positoned to prevent the pot from sticking to the shelf during firing.
