This bottle was gently squeeezed before removing it from the potters wheel. After stiffening a bit, it was paddled further to give it a fuller profile and a bit of an oval appearance when viewed from above. The piece was fired on its side in the wood kiln on four seashells. A heavy deposit of ash resulted in streams of natural ash glaze dripping from the underside of the pot during firing. The flashes of red/brown around the shell marks are areas that were somewhat protected from the flame and ash and have kept the warm, iron rich color of the raw clay.
